I’m a first-generation Filipino American designer & dancer. I not-so-recently-anymore graduated from UC Berkeley, where I studied Cognitive Science and Design Innovation.
I’m motivated to increase accessibility in and to tech, remaining passionate in user advocation. Products should be made to meet users where they are at, and should address real problems with real solutions.
I believe in gaining a deep understanding of the problem space and the users being affected before jumping into any solutions. Business objectives should be rooted in user needs, and designs should always have the user at the center.

I can't say enough about how awesome it is to work with Matt! He's incredibly talented and well versed in many areas of design, and he is always eager to pick up new topics. Aside from typical product design work, I threw product-led experimentation, content design, and some product management work at him and he faced it all with confidence and excellence. He was always curious, asked great questions, and was never afraid to reach out to any one for particular expertise.
Matt was also empowered to take ownership and lead highly complex initiatives under me within the Design System and Growth Design teams. He faced this with an amazing confidence that inspired many people across our company and it was the reason I was inspired to hire him a second time! Matt truly delivered on all fronts here, and most importantly for Growth and experimentation work, he was never afraid to learn from mistakes and to grow quickly.
He exhibited a strong self-learning and adaptive mindset, and a continual focus of ensuring that his designs and product strategy aligned with company initiatives. It was also easy to work with Matt since he is accountable to everyone around him and takes serious initiative to perform at the highest levels of whatever he was working on. There was no doubt in my mind that I was working with a natural-born design leader.

Matt excels at taking on new design challenges head. He's a great team player and is highly skilled at being able to translate functional requirements to a design that stakeholders and development team were able to work with. One of his notable achievements was collaborating with another designer and software engineers to complete the prototype of a new web application that streamlined how Blizzard Entertainment creates game credits for their AAA titles. He is known for his fast design iterations and creative and thoughtful solutions to problems, even when lacking full context. Any organization would be more than lucky to have Matt on their team!
